Canadian Island is a resource centre for travelling families. Florence is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and a destination point for so many people travelling in and around Europe, however it can be confusing and tiring at times. There is no end to the beautiful things to see and do here.
Knowing what to do and how to keep your kids entertained can be difficult and exhausting. The family at Canadian Island understands and offers a solution.
If you find yourself in Tuscany during June or July your kids can participate in one of our Sleep Over Camps, allowing you a six day breather on your vacation.
Otherwise for a 9-5 reprieve near Florence we have two Day Camp programs. Both of which can be an exciting child-oriented cultural experience for your son or daughter.

Have a look at all the fun ways our campers are exposed to this full immersion English experience, and imagine your children taking part, fully immersed in Italian. The majority of our campers are Italian but there are several bilingual children each week. Therefore your son or daughter can have the best of both worlds, making friends with children from another country and also learning about the Italian culture and language. Our experience has taught us that children adapt much more easily than adults to new experiences, they have no inhibitions, they just jump in and figure it out. After all, what could be more international than a smile.
All of our Staff speak English and again, many are bilingual. We can even provide Italian lessons to facilitate their play and communication with their new Italian peers!
Throughout the academic year, September to May, we can provide the following personalized and friendly services to allow you a bit of a breather to calmly take in the Uffizzi Gallery or the Academia.

The line-ups alone will have your kids pulling your hair out! These activities are especially catered for your child and are flexible to suit your vacation needs.

• Morning Day Care Services in English or Italian
• Evening and weekend babysitting in your home provided by qualified and trusted Canadian Island staff
• Your children can participate in our Saturday Morning program
• We can arrange tailor-made art workshops in English

The staff at Canadian Island are a brilliant mix of Italians and Canadians along with a few Americans, an Australian and a Brit all with the same interest at heart – kids!Whether we’re specialized in art, or music, or language acquisition, our first priority is that the children, no matter how old, have fun learning.
Some of us have been here for many years but we remember well the difficulties involved in being a foreigner in the city of Florence.
